"Steve Lurie understands music and the connections to be made across all kinds of music. He approaches it with an artists touch but with a keen sense of business. He’s a rare entity in our industry."
— RITA HOUSTON, Program Director, 90.7FM WFUV Radio
"Steve Lurie at Music Without Borders has, through the selections of artists he has brought to the Naked Soul series at NYC's Rubin Museum, demonstrated year in year out a sensitivity and unerring instinct of what will work under conditions that are far from ordinary. At Naked Soul there is no amplification and the artists are asked to engage with Buddhist art and concepts in their gig. If he can do that, I daresay he can curate anything."
— TIM MCHENRY, Director of Programming, Rubin Museum of Art
"As a founder of both Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. and its annual outdoor music and environmental fundraising festival The Great Hudson River Revival, I knew we needed a strong visionary leader to take the Revival to the next level. We were on unsure footing financially, many artists did not feel well treated, and we were not giving our 1000+ volunteers the care they deserved. Six years ago Steve Lurie joined our team as Festival Director. He continually applied his thoughtful and firm decision making and production expertise to restructure our advanced ticket sales and income, improve relations with artists and vendors, etc., make volunteers proud of their involvement and produce an outstanding festival. Festival attendance has more than doubled under Steve’s leadership."
— HAL COHEN, along with PETER SEEGER, a founder of Clearwater
"It is a pleasure to work with someone as professional and competent as Steve. His standards of quality, his leadership talents and his ability to see both the big picture and the details that comprise it are unsurpassed in my experience...and he is a principled, decent person, all of which he proves every year as producer of Clearwater’s annual festival."
— PETER GROSS, Former Executive Director of Clearwater
