Friday, April 26, 2019 at 8PM at the Tarrytown Music Hall

lords of 52nd street mwb music without borders

The Lords of 52nd Street are Billy Joel’s original band.. They do not need to copy or reinvent the original music, since they are the guys you saw playing at Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, Nassau Coliseum and the countless other venues during those Billy Joel concerts of the 1970’s and 1980’s. The Lords of 52nd Street are the legendary bandmates who recorded and toured the world for many years with the “Piano Man.” They helped to create one of the most recognizable sounds in music recording the sax, drum and guitar solos on over 150 million albums sold with Billy Joel as well. The band is led by Richie Cannata on tenor saxophone, Liberty DeVitto on drums and percussion, and Russell Javors on rhythm guitar. Their collaboration helped change the face of music. They have worked individually with multi-platinum artists, lending their talents to some of the greatest musicians in the world. After 30+ years the band has finally reunited, and haven’t missed a step with this mind blowing show. Critics love them and their performances have been blowing away fans of all ages.

Felix Cavaliere's Rascals MWB Music Without Borders

The message has always been to stand for peace, love, and happiness. For legendary singer songwriter, Felix Cavaliere, making people feel good is primary to his illustrious 50-year career that includes the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriter Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and Grammy Hall of Fame. Few artists can claim they defined a generation; FELIX CAVALIERE continues to remind us to keep listening for the world’s beauty.  Early in 1965, FELIX CAVALIERE formed the ‘Young Rascals’ with Dino Danelli, Eddie Brigati, and Gene Cornish. That October, they caught the attention of promoter/manager Sid Bernstein with their high-energy set at Long Island’s elite club, Barge. Signed to Atlantic Records, and now called The Rascals, the mega hit “Good Lovin’” struck No. 1 in February 1966. They followed suit with a string of hits like “I’ve Been Lonely Too Long,” “Groovin’(No. 1 in 1967), “How Can I Be Sure,” “A Girl Like You,” “A Beautiful Morning,” and “People Got to Be Free” (No. 1 in 1968). The Rascals are considered the best ‘blue-eyed soul’ group to come out of the 1960s, as well as one of the groups with the most record sales.

Hilarious Political Satire! Over 30 years ago, the Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded over 35 albums including their latest, Make America Grin Again. They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard twice a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide. during their Politics Takes a Holiday Radio Special.

Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 8PM at the Tarrytown Music Hall

Tusk is the number one Tribute to Fleetwood Mac in the world, bar none. No wigs, no backing tracks, no gimmicks, just five musicians recreating the music of Fleetwood Mac to perfection with note for note renditions that no other Fleetwood Mac tribute on the touring scene today can come close to duplicating. Tusk covers all the great hits of Fleetwood Mac, which has featured the talents of Mick Fleetwood, Christine and John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and others over the years. The five seasoned, well-respected musicians comprising Tusk have been making music together in various combinations and styles, in original outfits and in cover bands, for over twenty-five years. It seemed only fitting that they should come together to form the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute, and pay homage to a group that dominated the charts during the band members’ formative years. Authentic-sounding and always respectful, Tusk leaves no stone unturned in replicating the sounds of one of the world’s best-loved, top-selling bands.

Lewis Black, Grammy Award-winning, stand-up comedian, is one of the most prolific and popular performers working today. He executes a brilliant trifecta as a stand-up comedian, actor and author. Receiving critical acclaim, he performs more than 200 nights annually, to sold-out audiences throughout Europe, New Zealand, Canada and the United States. He is one of a few performers to sell out multiple renowned theaters, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Brooks Atkinson Theatre, New York City Center, the Main Stage at the Mirage in Las Vegas and most recently, a sold-out Broadway run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City.

His live performances provide a cathartic release of anger and disillusionment for his audience. He is a passionate performer who is a more pissed-off optimist than a mean-spirited curmudgeon. Lewis is the rare comic who can cause an audience to laugh themselves into incontinence while making compelling points about the absurdity of our world.

Lewis Black came into national prominence with his appearances on The Daily Show in 1996. Those appearances on The Daily Show led to comedy specials on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime and Epix. In 2001, he won Best Male Stand-Up at the American Comedy Awards. He has released eight comedy albums, including the 2007 Grammy Award-winning The Carnegie Hall Performance. He won his second Grammy Award for his album Stark Raving Black and has published three bestselling books: Nothing’s Sacred (Simon & Schuster, 2005), Me of Little Faith (Riverhead Books, 2008) and I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas (Riverhead Books, 2010). In 2012, he performed eight sell-out shows at Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway as well as did one of his two HBO Specials Black on Broadway. In 2015, Black notably voiced the character “Anger” in the Academy Award winning film from Pixar, Inside Out.

Additionally, Lewis Black does a live streaming show on Audible called THE RANT IS DUE. There is behind-the-scenes moments from the Lewis Black tour bus, as well as occasional phone calls to the people behind the rants. From hate for pickles to disdain for online dating, this show channels the rage of 300 million neighbors and truly has something for everybody.

Chazz Palminteri Music Without Borders MWB

Chazz Palminteri returns performing his one-man stage version of the hit movie and recent Broadway musical A Bronx Tale. Based on his childhood memories of working men and gangsters in the Italian-American neighborhood where he grew up, Palminteri originally wrote the script for the stage and performed it in Los Angeles where it became the hottest property in Hollywood since ROCKY. He moved the production to New York, where the stage version played to sold-out audiences for four months and earned him Outer Critics Circle Awards for both acting and writing. While in New York he completed the screenplay and soon found himself playing the role of Sonny on the big screen opposite Robert De Niro. See Chazz perform the original one-man show that made him a star. Chazz has more than 50 movies to his credit including The Usual Suspects, Bullets Over Broadway (Academy Award nomination), Analyze This, Hurlyburly, Mulholland Falls, and more.

Joan Osborne, joined by powerhouse rock vets Anders Osborne and Robert Randolph, unleashes her sizable gifts as a vocalist and interpreter upon The Bard’s celebrated canon. With performances honed by the time Osborne spent polishing them during “Joan Osborne Sings The Songs Of Bob Dylan” —  two critically acclaimed two-week residencies she performed at New York City’s Café Carlyle in March 2016 and 2017, the seven-time Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum-selling singer and songwriter, whom The New York Times has called “a fiercely intelligent, no-nonsense singer,” winds her supple, soulful voice around Dylan’s poetic, evocative lyrics, etching gleaming new facets in them along the way.

Wallflowers Music Without Borders MWB

A Music Hall/Music Without Borders Co-presentation
The Grammy winning roots/rock group fronted by Jakob Dylan returns to the Music Hall! Though he is the son of a legend, Jakob's similarities to his father are occasional -- in fact, The Wallflowers are more influenced by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers than original '60s folk-rock, though lyrically, Jakob remains a close companion to the original Dylan. Bringing Down the Horse was a big seller throughout 1997, thanks to "6th Avenue Heartache," "One Headlight," and "The Difference," the third single pulled from the record. Early in 1998, "One Headlight" won Grammys for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal. The band has remained active throughout the years, releasing a number of critically acclaimed albums.
