Loretta Lynn Live at Tarrytown | Sun. 04.22 | 7 PM

We are thrilled to welcome back country music icon Loretta Lynn. For over 55 years now, Loretta Lynn has fashioned a body of work as artistically and commercially successful—and as culturally significant—as any female performer you’d care to name. An honest-to-goodness American icon, she is the proud owner of ten #1 albums, sixteen #1 singles, four Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, twelve Academy of Country Music Awards and eight Country Music Association Awards. Her music has confronted many of the major social issues of her time, and her life story is a rags-to-riches tale familiar to pop, rock and country fans alike. In 1972, she became the first female artist to win the Country Music Association’s coveted Entertainer of the Year award. Now a member of the Country Music and Songwriters Halls of Fame, she received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. In all, she has sold more than 45 million albums, worldwide. In 1976, Lynn penned “The Coal Miner’s Daughter,” making her the first woman to write a best-selling autobiography. In 1980, Universal Pictures released a movie by the same name, which would later earn an Academy Award for Best Actress (Sissy Spacek).

The incredible harmonies and distinctive arrangements of The Jayhawks set them apart from the rest of the Minneapolis music scene that emerged in the 1980s. By the early 90’s they became a driving force and inspiration behind the growing Americana movement. Combining the talents of singer-songwriters Gary Louris and Mark Olson, The Jayhawks released their major label debut, the acclaimed Hollywood Town Hall (1992) on the Def American label. This was followed by Tomorrow the Green Grass (1995), which produced the alternative radio hit single “Blue.”When Olson left to pursue a solo career, Louris singularly took over the songwriting role in The Jayhawks creating the band’s enduring sound on some of their best selling and well-received albums including Smile (2000) and Rainy Day Music (2003). Louris continues to write and tour with the longtime core group of Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg, and Tim O’Reagan. While the touring line-up has changed over the years and Olson briefly reappeared in 2010 to record and tour, this classic lineup maintains a commitment to adventure and forward motion in their shows and in their recordings. Their latest album, Paging Mr. Proust (2016), was produced in Portland with Peter Buck and Tucker Martine.

GTLO returns to rock the Music Hall for the sixth consecutive year! From the bombastic and epic, to the folky and mystical, Get The Led Out (GTLO) have captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brought it to the concert stage. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live like you’ve never heard before. Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal, GTLO recreates the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. When you hear three guitars on the album...GTLO delivers three guitarists on stage. No wigs or fake English accents, GTLO brings what the audience wants...a high energy Zeppelin concert with an honest, heart-thumping intensity. Dubbed by the media as "The American Led Zeppelin," Get The Led Out offers a strong focus on the early years. They also touch on the deeper cuts that were seldom, if ever heard in concert. GTLO also include a special “acoustic set” with Zep favorites such as “Tangerine” and the “Battle of Evermore” being performed in its’ original instrumentation with guest singer Diana DeSantis joining the band.

Son Volt Live at Tarrytown Music Hall : 4/9 at 7PM

Seminal band Son Volt Led by the songwriting and vocals of Jay Farrar, was one of the most instrumental and influential bands inlaunching the alt.country movement of the 1990s. A movement that was the precursor to what is now widely referred to as Americana. They’ve announced the February 17, 2017 release of their new album, Notes Of Blue (Thirty Tigers). The 10 songs on Notes Of Blue are inspired by the spirit of the blues, but not the standard blues as most know it. The unique and haunting tunings of Mississippi Fred McDowell, Skip James and Nick Drake were all points of exploration for Farrar for the new collection. Whether you call it alt.country, Americana, roots rock, insurgent country or just good ol’ rock n roll, musical trends appear and disappear on regular basis. Notes of Blue is a testament to the legacy of inspiration and creative spirit that Jay Farrar and Son Volt continue to uphold.

10,000 Maniacs Live at Tarrytown Music Hall

10,000 Maniacs Live at Tarrytown Music Hall - 3/25/17

One of the most acclaimed bands of the last three decades. 10,000 Maniacs defined college rock and created the first wave of alternative rock bands that became known as the alternative rock format on FM radio.

Writing and performing powerful, danceable and socially conscious original material in and around their hometown of Jamestown, New York the group toured extensively and produced two independently released records, Human Conflict Number Five (1982) and Secrets of the I Ching (1983) on their own label. By producing, manufacturing and marketing their own recordings, 10,000 Maniacs were one of the original “indie” bands before signing with Elektra Records.

Although Natalie Merchant is no longer with 10,000 Maniacs, the band has the added distinction of helping to launch her solo career. The singer-songwriter and musician parted ways with the band in 1993.

2016 marks 35 years of 10,000 Maniacs and in honor of the anniversary the band released their first live album with lead vocalist Mary Ramsey, Playing Favorites.

Tommy Emmanuel with Joe Robinson, Live at Tarrytown Music Hall: Sat. 3/4/17

Special Guest: Joe Robinson
One of the finest guitar players of our generation, Tommy Emmanuel returns after a sold out appearance 2015! Give a listen to “Old Photographs,” the closing track on Tommy Emmanuel’s It’s Never Too Late and you’ll hear the distinctive squeak of finger noise as he runs his hands across the frets of his Maton Signature TE guitar. Many musicians would edit those imperfection’s out, but to Emmanuel, those imperfections are perfect. A master technician, Emmanuel started professionally at age 6, rising through the ranks as a studio player and member of several Australian rock bands before he set off on a solo career. One of only five musicians handpicked by his mentor, Chet Atkins, as a Certified Guitar Player (CGP), he’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy nominations, two ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy) and repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll. A noted fingerstyle guitarist, Emmanuel frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one - man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. His talents, which translate in any language, carry him to the far corners of the globe, but Emmanuel never plays the same show twice, and he improvises big chunks of every date.

“Bebel Gilberto has taken on traditional bossa nova rhythms and infused it with her trademark alluring vocals to create a hypnotic new sound.” – NPR

“Atmosphere is everything to this music, and it’s an atmosphere that creates a cozy realm between the retro and the fashionable, and between Brazil and international clubland.” – New York Times

World-renowned singer-songwriter Bebel Gilberto, who has earned multiple Grammy nominations over the course of her career, has captivated fans and earned media acclaim worldwide with her trademark electronic bossa nova, taking over clubs around the world and positioning Bebel as one of the top-selling Brazilian artists in the U.S. since the ‘60s. Gilberto’s penchant for sonically transporting listeners to Brazil, with bright, incandescent bossa nova-infused melodies, lyrics about love, and a lilting performance style has earned her raves for her live performances.

Gilberto was born in New York to Brazilian music icons João Gilberto and Miúcha. Her musical education was her childhood in Brazil. She was surrounded by extended family including her uncle Chico Buarque and family friends like Milton Nacimento, Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, and João Donato; she made her first recording at age 7. “I will turn 50 this year, so I’ve been recording and performing music for 47 years!” exclaims Bebel with a laugh.

Bebel’s influences are vast and eclectic. In addition to living and breathing all types of Brazilian musical styles as a child, she was exposed to the greats, from Debussy to Prince; Michel Legrand to Billie Holliday; Bjork to Gershwin. She also has a strong love for North American soul; she discovered Donna Summer, Earth Wind and Fire, and Michael Jackson on the dance floor as a budding teenager. “The whole disco thing plays a big role in my heart,” says Bebel, who still loves to dance.

Several years after Bebel moved to New York City in 1991 her present day sound of electronic meets Brazilian began to crystallize. “Little by little, I learned what I wanted musically,” says Bebel, who gigged all around the city and collaborated with many artists. “I think there I became a New Yorker—with a Brazilian heart of course!
